The tab group was added to Google Chrome on the desktop in May 2020. This feature is also available on Android smartphones and tablets and works as well. You can organize tabs by grouping them like folders.

  • First, open the Chrome app on your Android smartphone or tablet and tap the tab icon on the top bar to see all the open tabs.
  • All tabs are displayed in the grid. To create a group, press and hold a tab and drag it onto another tab. Release when the bottom tab is highlighted.
  • The tabs will now be in a group titled “2 Tabs.” Simply tap it to open the group.
  • If you go to one of these tabs, the other tabs in the group will appear in a row at the bottom. This allows you to easily switch between tabs within a group.
  • Tapping the up arrow will open the tab group preview again. The “+” button will add a new tab to the group.
  • If you remove a tab from the group, you can keep it open in the main tab. Open the group preview window, press and hold the tab, and drag it to Remove from Group.

That’s it! This is a simple trick, but it helps you organize your tabs better. You don’t have to search through the complete list of tabs, you can easily move between tabs by putting them together.
